8/6/2023 0 Comments Colorful laundry roomsIf you’re afraid to go “all in” on a dark laundry room, just incorporate a couple of dark “moments” such as flooring, cabinet color, or wall color to balance light or mid-tones throughout the space like the room designed by Jean Stoffer. Not all of them are necessarily dark in color (like the white room designed by Studio McGee), but they still exude a moody feel due to the amount of natural light, dark materials incorporated into the overall design, or a combination of both. These 18 beautiful laundry rooms are moody in different ways. The laundry room is right off our garage and my home office is connected to the back of the garage, so I walk through our laundry room at least 100 times each day and it still makes me smile! I incorporated real brick floors, reclaimed heart pine shelving and countertop, a custom-made antique wood closet door, and an old-fashioned utility sink to add a feeling of history to this new space. I wanted a splash of drama so I used Benjamin Moore’s inky “Polo Blue” paint on the main wall and I’m still in love with this bold color 5 years later. I don’t enjoy doing laundry but I certainly enjoy spending time in this space and that was my top priority when designing this room. I’m quite partial to dark & moody laundry rooms since we have one in our farmhouse ( you can see it here – I need to add some new photos!). I would gladly sort and fold laundry in any of these delightfully charming spaces.
